Heritage Field
--May
17th,
2008
Logan Springer snapped a 3-3 tie in the bottom of the
eighth with a bomb to left field. the Yanks added two more run
s with two out hits from 2b George Adam and center-fielder mark
sterling to make the final score 6-3 Yankees and taking both game of
a split double header at Heritage Saturday.
The Diamondbacks scored in the top of the 1st to take a 1-0 lead,
the Yankee answered back with 3 of their own with the last run
coming from a very well executed base running play, with 1st and 3rd
George Adam broke for 2nd and stopped 2/3 way down on the throw
George stayed in a pickle long enough for Brian Tirch to race
home.
The D'Back's scrapped a run in the 6th then tied it in the 7th on
the 3rd Yankee error of the day. but the Yankees defense is actually
what saved the game, in the top of the 8th the D'Back's loaded the
bases with none out Logan Springer got DH josh Brown to strike out,
but the next batter hit a hard ground ball the left of Yankee
3rd baseman Jordan Lovell who made a stab at it came up with the
ball and twisted around to get the force at home. The next Diamondback
hitter popped up towards third that Jordan lost in the sun, recovered
and dove to the third base bag just beating the base runner for the
force to end the threat.
Then up came Logan in the bottom of the 8th and deposited 1-0
hanging curve-ball deep to left and the rest was history.
Logan also went the distance on the hill to earn the win striking
out 10 along the way
