Game Day Forfeits

President 03-30-2006, 11:19

A forfeited game occurs when one team is unable to field enough players (8) at game time. However; There is a 31 minute grace period with a run being accessed at game time & 1 run every 15 minutes thereafter. (With 31 minutes that is up to 3 runs)

The forfeiting team is responsible for paying both umpires, which will come out of your Forfeit Bond, the offending team must submit a new Bond before their next regularly scheduled game.

Follow up written by Pete Jones, Manager of the Dodgers, to help with clarification of the 31 minute rule:

The grace period kicks in at game time and a run is awarded. Another is awarded at the 15th and 30th minute. SO a 1:00 game beginning at 1:30 has a 3-0 score. Per the umpire's association, the game becomes a 9-0 forfeit at the 31st minute (or 7-0 in a scheduled 7-inning game). If the game actually starts prior to the 31st minute, the time limit is in effect as of the scheduled start time. NO time is added due to a late start.

Thank you Pete,

R/Tim
