Courtesy Runner (AKA Non-runner Rule)
Reply Quote
In compliance with the NABA National Rules Book Page 16 Courtesy Runner: Two (2) players per team per game may have another player run for them in the event they reach base.

This means only 2 players on the starting line-up / substitution card the manager submits for that game.

Point: The Non-runners are 2 specific people NOT a position on the line-up card

Those that require the courtesy runners are called non-runners ("NR").  The courtesy runner will be the last recorded out.

It is not manadatory to use this rule as the manager has the option depending on the situation. The courtesy runner must enter before the next pitch, or the use of the courtesy runner is forfeited on that play.

This does not mean you forfeit the non-runner for the rest of the game.

There is no speed up rule allowing runners for the Pitcher or Catcher.

In the Blue & Gray league you may hold back 1 or both your non-runners for later in the game for an injury, else you must use a legal substitute.
