This game was a definite pitching dual. The blues pitcher Joe
Coppage pitched a strong 8 innings striking out 11 only one walk and 2 earned
runs but D'Backs pitcher Manduzio matched his performance with 13k's 2 walks and
3 earned runs. The blues let the D'Backs score 2 in the first on a costly error
but Matt Orner tied the game in the sixth with huge 2 run blast over the right
field wall. The dbacks managed to score the go ahead run in the bottom of the
6th to make it 3 to 2, but in the top of the eighth Matt Orner stole second and
a bad throw by the catcher allowed him to advance to third and managed to steal
home with the D'Backs not paying attention tying the game. Matt Orner led the
blues going 2 for 2 with a HR , single, 2RBI, 2 walks, and 6 stolen bases.
The D'Backs Press Box:
The Diamondbacks , riding the arm of pitcher Mike Manduzio's 13
strikeouts....ran out of time against the First Horizon Blues securing a 3-3
tie at Pfitzner Stadium Saturday morning.
Mike's stellar performance on the mound (only allowing 3 hits, 2 ER) was
only blemished by the 2 run HR in the top of the 6th by the Blues Matt Orner
to tie the game at 2-2.
Diamondbacks 2B/CF (and former Blue's player) James Kannard (1-4, Double,
Run, SB) played incredible against his former teammates both offensively &
defensively. C Jeremy Glaspy went on a tear (3-3, 2 Runs, 3 SB) raising his
team leading average to .500. DH Brandon Weaver continued to knock in runs
(2) reaching base on errors twice.
Mike Manduzio's pitching kept the Dbacks in the game...retiring the Blues in
order 5 different times , and getting the first batter out 7 times in 9
innings.
