Fredericksburg, VA---June
4, 10005|In one of the fastest baseball games of the
season the Quantico Bulldogs defeated the Fredericksburg Seminoles by a score of
3-2 in only 1 hr. 35 min. The Bulldogs started things off in the first when
Donovan Clements walked, then advanced to third on a Michael Brann double, hit
into the left center gap. With runners now on 2nd and 3rd,
Wandi Rodriguez came up to bat and hit a fly deep to right allowing Clements to
tag and score from 3rd giving the Bulldogs a 1-0 lead after the
first. Ford, pitching in his first game took the mound for the Bulldogs,
retiring the first 6 batters he faced. In the bottom part of the 3rd
the Seminoles lead off batter Nate Keranen was HBP, then advanced to third on a
Tim Acors single. Ben Sutton then came up to bat and took an offering over the
Bulldogs left fielder’s head for a double scoring 2. This gave the Seminoles a
2-1 lead after 3. Superior pitching and defense helped keep the game 2-1 until
the top of the 7th when Bulldogs 2nd baseman Donovan
Clements led off with a triple over the center fielder. Mike Brann then grounded
out, forcing Clements to hold at 3rd. Rodriguez then came up to bat
and singled to score Clements and tie the game at 2. Steve Hall then stepped up
and drove a double in the right center gap that scored Rodriguez and gave the
Bulldogs a 3-2 lead. Now with the lead, the Bulldogs brought in closer Chance
Mistric, who pitched 3 scoreless while striking out 6 to give the Bulldogs the
win.
