First Horizon Blue Marcus McDonald stroked a 2 out RBI
single to left-center field of of Red Sox Pitcher Pete Schourek
scoring Devon Ewell from second base to break a 3-3 tie in the
bottom of the 11th inning propelling the Blues over the Sox in the
Blue & Gray Wild Card game. The Blues opened the scoring in the
second inning taking advantage of 4 hits to take a 2-0 lead, that
score stayed the same until the Sox finally plated a run on an error
by the Blues and a 2 out single land the game was tied at 2 apiece
at the end of 7.
The bottom of the Eighth the Blues managed a run as the Red Sox
returned the favor with an error of their own to give the Blues a
3-2 lead at the end of Eight. Rhett Teller came on for the
Blues to try to save it in the 9th but a big double by Jeff
Fox of the Redsox and a wild pitch later the Red Sox knotted it at
3. Then came McDonalds big two out hit in the bottom of the
11th and the Blues will advance to the Semi-Finals of the Blue &
Gray League. Next up: The Blues face the
Potomac Brewers in a best of three series starting Thursday Night
the 17th
The Red Sox were eliminated form the post season.
